Round 16

At long last I've completed the data entry after round 16, whilst directing the Nite Bird. There are still a theoretical 12 contenders, but Gibson and Luebkemann have done well to defend the home turf, and as a reward, they'll go at it first thing in the morning. At Table 2, it's Brian Bowman and Sam Rosin.

Division 2's leaders, Cynthia Seales and Bruce Shuman, will face Mary Pastore and Susan Bertoni respectively, in a last bid to give the players with 9 wins to catch up. ~~In Division 3, Dave Rauppius is 2 games ahead of the field, so it's up to Russell Stewart to try to catch him.~~ Whoops, he's only one game ahead of the field (my data entry mistake). Rauppius will play Stewart, and Clare will play Lehr.

Pleasant surprise for Chad Harris in the Nite Event, who went 8-0, winning $275 and catapulting his rating to over 1700! Late entry Joey Krafchick also had a good showing, 4th place and $75. Phil Wertheimer finished 2nd, highlighted by his playing OXIDIZES through a Z for 100. Mike Early finished 3rd, and Stephane Clare won the performance prize, finishing 14 places above her initial seed, moving from 21st to 7th.
